Let’s Interview: Noble Nimmons

Hey everyone! Jess here. Today I’m very pleased to introduce Noble Nimmons, publisher and contributor to Grafted Magazine.

Noble, why don’t you take a moment to tell us about yourself and where you’re from?
Well, I’m from Conroe, TX which is North of Houston. I am 20 years old and I come from a family of 8. We all have fun and keep fairly busy for the most part. Most of my time is spent at Sam Houston University studying Finance but I do enjoy playing music and getting with friends when I get the chance,

Awesome! Can you share with us a little bit about what we might expect from you as a contributor to the magazine?
Sure! Since I’ll be producing most of the videos for Grafted this allows me the ability to cover more topics in several different ways. I have planned several topics that will help everyone live out their faith in their day to day life and be more vocal about it. The videos will be directed mostly to college aged students though I’m sure everyone would be able to benefit. I am pretty excited about what we have and already have had lots of fun working on what we have ready to be released soon.

Lets talk about your faith. How did you come to know Christ, and how has it changed you?
Well, I was raised in the church and I guess I’d have to be labeled a PK (Preacher’s Kid). Since that’s how it was for me, I accepted Christ at a fairly young age. As I grew, God had to show me how he worked and how I had to take a back seat when I thought things needed fixing, It’s been a long process but He has taken me from what I wanted for myself and gave me what He wanted for me. He has grown me so much in my life and I really enjoy seeing things through his eyes. Every step has been fun and lots of work but He never stops working and I love that.

What are some of your plans for the future? (family, career, education, missions?)
Actually one of things God has shown me is how fast plans can dissolve when I try to take control. However, I have planned a few things that would be nice and useful as I go about God’s work. I would like to finish school and get my finance degree. I would dearly love to have a family at some point but I think that’s a bit outside my reach at the moment so I’m just not worrying about it too much for now. I would love to do missions and I am considering possibly taking a break from school at some point soon to go out and get involved. Besides that I don’t have much on my mind besides getting by every day and making the most of it.

Sounds like a good way to go through life to me! One step at a time. Now onto the next question: what are some hobbies you enjoy?
Goodness, that list is far too long for me to mention all of them. I’ll go over the few things that I do fairly often but there really is so much I enjoy doing. For starters, I really enjoy music. I enjoy playing music, writing music, studying it, sharing it and of course listening to it. I spend so much time during my studies getting distracted by music it’s a bit ridiculous. I also enjoy having fun in a physical way. I love going swimming, skating, parkour, running and just getting a good workout. I used to swim on swim team and though I no longer compete, the habit of getting some exercise every day is still a big part of me. I guess what takes third place as far as the amount of time I spend on it would be trading. I recently got into trading on the stock market and I really enjoy it. I generally like learning new things of any kind, so I guess trading falls under that for the moment.

Wow, that’s very interesting! Since you mentioned you love learning, I have to ask: do you like to read?
It’s actually really funny that you should mention that. My whole life I have been very dyslexic and have had a very hard time with school and most things having to do with reading and writing. I actually had a good laugh when I was first asked to be part of this magazine because of this and it’s really the reason why I am working on videos for the magazine instead of writing. That isn’t to say I don’t read. I actually really enjoy reading but I try to stick to well-known books or at least highly discussed books when I do read. Things I have read more recently include: Hunger Games, Sense and Sensibility, The Hobbit, and of course the Bible.

Sounds like we have similar taste in literature. What type of music do you like to listen to?
Now that is something I do a lot of and enjoy perhaps a bit too much. Let’s see, I really just enjoy anything well done and thought out. I’m really all over the place when it comes to any particular music style. I’ll listen to an opera piece and the next song could easily be rap. My top song at the moment would probably have to be Go Off by KB since it shows several different talents and different ways one song can sound will maintaining its focus on topic. Phantom of the Opera has always been a favorite of mine and I actually have been finding myself listening to Think of Me fairly often recently. Since a friend of mine showed me Lana Del Rey, I have been playing her over and over. All her stuff sounds the same to me so I would probably be lying if I told you I had one favorite from her. I just really like her ability to show her pain but still be able demonstrate her acceptance of it. Last but definitely not least, I have been having fun with Hawk Nelson’s new CD, particularly their song A Million Miles Away. It’s just an all-around upbeat fun song that gets me in a good mood.

One more question: If you could choose to be anyone (in this time or another) for a day, who would you it be?
Wow, you’re not going easy on me. It’s kind of hard since I am pretty satisfied with the life I have now but if I had to pick somebody it would have to be one of the disciples that got to be with Jesus. I just think that would have been a crazy experience but I think God has just as much awesomeness ready for me now in this life.

Thank you so much for agreeing to do this interview, Noble. It’s been great getting to know more about you through your answers. Do you have any words in closing for our readers?
Thanks! It’s been fun! Just never give up when it gets hard, stay in school, don’t do drugs, and always brush your teeth!
